Hi TimeBankers,

Meet and Greet, 11/8

It was much cooler weather than expected on Sunday and there weren't a lot of customers at our Meet and Greet Flea Market/Silent Auction, but it was a fun, friendly community event in any case, as our TimeBank functions always are. Patrice made a wonderful hot vegetable soup with organic produce from his garden which he gave to TimeBankers for free as dusk approached and we enjoyed greatly while warming ourselves at the fire pit that Deerwomon built.

Patrice, Natalie, Danny Turner, Tamarah, Nancy Wines, Andrew Schwerin, Cheri White, Mary Wise, Becky Gillette, Jerry Landrum and Will Ensslin all brought stuff to sell, and the beautiful painting donated by local artist Jody Stephenson was on display. No bids have been offered as yet, so we will be thinking about a new time/place for auctioning the painting.

From the 10% of proceeds, which was divided between TimeBank and Enthios, each organization got about $15. Thanks to everyone who attended, whether buying or selling or just stopping by to say hello. TimeBankers who brought stuff to sell, please remember to record your hours!

THERE IS PROBABLY A LOT OF POTENTIAL FOR THIS EVENT TO BE A MUCH BIGGER SUCCESS IN THE FUTURE, WITH MORE PLANNING AHEAD, ORGANIZING AND ADVERTISEMENT.
WE WILL DISCUSS THAT AND OTHER TOPICS CONCERNING THE FUTURE OF OUR TIMEBANK AT OUR NEXT OPEN MEETING SLATED FOR JANUARY.

NOTE: TimeBank is still in need of some help with Secretarial Coordinating Please see Section 2 for details.

2.Local TimeBank News:
TimeBank needs help with Coordinating

Though we have assurance that Jacquie Wolven and Raven Hill will be helping with Volunteer Coordinating beginning this winter, we still need a Secretarial Coordinator, a committed someone who is good with details, recording data, helping members with joining up, recording information on the website, etc. If you are interested, you are welcome to attend our monthly coordinator meetings to learn more. Please contact Natalie at onawah@gmail.com if you can help. Thanks!

3.Volunteer Opportunities: Two notes re firewood:

a. This from 'Shuggie' on Geekfest:
'Seasoned FireWood!!Time Bankers, please come and pick-up the wood you cut last winter.'

You can contact Shuggie on the Geekfest site, or call or email Natalie (479 365 3124 or onawah@gmail.com) if you need help contacting her.

b. This from Carolyn Barrett at:
cjbarrett@toast.net
“Hi.I have a lot of timber that was just thinned from my property mostly because of ice storm damage and just what needed to be removed to let the other trees grow better. It is easily accessible and needs people to bring their chain saws and take what they want. I don't care if they sell it or give it to people who can't get their own or whatever....it is FREE.
Someone out there will eventually need some and it will season for years so think of the future if not this year.....and some is OK for rustic furniture. Or arbors or ?????
I just need to avoid the hunting days and will check with my hunter about hours when he is working and I am sure that would be OK to do it then also. People can telephone me at 479 253 4038 and I will give directions and show them where to start.”

Any TimeBankers who would like to take some of this wood for yourselves or for others in need, call Carolyn for the time and directions, and be sure to record your working time for credit in TimeBank hours.

TimeBank hours are awarded for all volunteer help given. Thanks!

You can also contact a coordinator for help.(See contact info in Section 5.)

CREATE YOUR OWN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

You may have noticed in the New Transactions section that some members have been earning TimeBank hours by attending community meetings, giving talks for various groups, and so on. We want all members to understand that everyone in TimeBank can earn hours by giving community service, and you don't have to wait until the Coordinators have provided a Volunteer Opportunity.
You can create your own!
If there is an event or meeting you would like to attend or a service you would like to perform for the community to earn TimeBank hours, please let one of the Coordinators know what it is so we can approve it and help you record your hours.

We can't guarantee that we will approve every request.(For example, singing at a Karaoke bar would probably not be considered community service, no matter how entertaining your performance might be!

However, events that have to do with building community, essential services to others, especially as related to sustainability, are good candidates. TimeBanking is different from regular banks in that we are HAPPY to give hours away, so please don't be shy!
