You beat me to the punch, but I was gonna ask everyone to pass along the reminder that burning today would be a very bad idea...

    Exclamation Plastic

this might be the start of something big

Need an invention of a simple two faced 24 1/2" Teflon coated "waffle iron" type iron to adhere very thin pieces of Cleaned plastic pieces together. Idea is to end up with a 24" block of solid plastic wraps.
    Cool?

There is NOT, as of this time, a burn ban in effect for Carroll County. Or any other county in Arkansas.

County wide burn bans can only be issued by the county judge. He has not issued one.

Last Tuesday’s Red Flag warning was issued by the National Weather service and is only advisory in nature.

Burn Bans issued by the judge have the force of law behind them and can result in fines for violating them.
The Fire Chief in a city or fire protection district can also issue a burn ban for their cities or districts. In some cities, burn permits are necessary prior to burning.

All that said, today would not be an especially good day to burn due to gusty winds.

Even if there is no burn ban, if you let a fire get out of control you are subject to fines. If it spreads off you property and onto another person’s property and does damage, you are subject to fines and civil liability.

You are correct about plastic. Per ADEQ, it is illegal in Arkansas to burn anything other than brush/leaves/or yard waste. If a trash hauler will pick it up or a landfill will take it, you can’t burn it. This includes paper, cardboard, construction materials, tires, mattresses, sofas, or just about anything else people chose to burn. And most especially plastic and tires.
