    Default Publisher's clearing house

Has a new drawing and they're inundating me with emails promoting it and encouraging my participation. But I can't win if I don't buy something from them. Isn't that illegal?

The three elements of a lottery are a prize, consideration and chance. If you're required to buy something in order to win something it's a lottery . I suspect they're running a legal operation -

I prayed for years to win the lottery. Finally the lord answered with you need to buy a ticket.

I was curious because I've also received those emails, and always assumed they were scams and just deleted them. So I searched around online to see what the deal is, and found lots of good information, including this piece by the real PCH folks:

Can I enter the PCH Sweepstakes without making a purchase?
We really mean it when we say there's "No Purchase Necessary" to enter or win the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes! You never have to buy anything or pay anything to claim a sweepstakes prize.

Our No Purchase Necessary message is best demonstrated in the fact that we routinely receive a higher quantity of non-order entries and most of our winners did not order with their winning entry.

Please watch this informative video on our "No Purchase Necessary" message:"

    But, I couldn't attach the video - I'm still a tech dinosaur.
