    Default Medicare is wonderful

I just got a bill for $4000 of totally unnecessary diagnostic work. My part of the cost was $4.

Medicare is a godsend -- a much needed and deserved godsend -- but a godsend nevertheless....

What is baffles me is social security income. We are taxed on the amount when it is withheld from our paycheck, and then taxed again when we begin to receive the benefits. That is what drove up my Obamacare premium, keeping me from being eligible for Medicaid. Go figure. But yeah, it is great to finally reach the age to benefit from all the money we coughed up through the years.

I love my Medicare. No longer worry about going bankrupt if I get sick.

So do y'all have supplemental insurance or just Medicare?

I have a supplemental plan with United Healthcare (AARP). Reasoned that even 20% of an outrageously high bill could wipe me out.

Starting regular Medicare March 1... I must say I'm a bit perturbed at the cost of part B, considering all the deductions from my paychecks over the years. I'll have to think hard about coming up with more $ for a Supplement Plan.
