The property is on Norris st., across from the hospital, rented by Dr. Beard. (Imagine not paying a doctor bill!)

Additionally, looked up the water meter ordinance. We spent over 400,000.00 on new water meters that were supposed to capture the lost water (in 2014), and we learned Monday night that they are still all not installed. Mostly but not all.

We also lost $240,000.00 worth of water last year that we bought but never billed. The city expects to lose $200,000.00 this year.

The city did buy the right piece of equipment that tells them where the biggest leaks are located and are working on a plan for new pipeline installation, starting this winter.

And where are those lost papers with the design for a lower level meeting room in the Aud?

I had to rush over to ActDataScout because Iím nosy like that. The only thing it says about the property is that it was deeded to the city 12/7/07. No info about deeded from whom or the propertyís earlier history. How does that happen? In a will?

If ActDataScout is correct, and it may not be, the city might not have owned this property for the entire lease period. The year 2007 was a couple of years after the Latimer settlement and a couple years before the Hells Angels ambush. Wasnít aught seven the year of the Crescent Park condo argument? It all blends, eventually, into a noisy mishmash of unresolved problems.

Was there ever a time when we the people and them the elected were on top of things? Iím not counting the modern day obsession with meeting minutes because...really? Itís like a Kafka story about the perils of giving petty bureaucrats...just a touch of power. Or maybe itís a Puritan thing. We dunk thee, Goody Armstrong, ye notorious scold! Loose thy wicked pen! Youíd think there was no such thing as an elected clerk & recorder.

    But itís all very Eureka.

Of course the city owns property it didnít know it owns and somebody has been using it for a couple of decades without paying rent. This is standard operating procedure. Next up: Hue, cry, friendships wrecked, Thanksgiving dinners ruined by arguments for the next decade or two.

It may be that something fell through the cracks while the government of 2007 was reading aloud from the Federalist Papers and making silent, flag-wrapped First Amendment arguments. It can probably be figured out now that priorities have shifted.

    Well, Kim,
Hmm. It says the city got a deed for the property in 2007. Doesn't it usually show who the deed came from? Perhaps the city owned it for a long time without registering/recording a deed?

dollar wise 7 years at 400. per month x12 months x is still over $30.K

This happened during Mary Jean Sell years...

$400 a month?? The mayor proposed $2,000 per month?

I meant that number as a minimum of what the City has missed in rent from that property. In other words, what a great deal for someone that believes they don't have to pay rent.

I can see the city losing track...(not really, but it happens). But the tenant...
