    Default Have the Hummingbirds left???

Last week we had at least a dozen Hummingbirds on two feeders. This week their numbers started dwindling and so far today only one or two are still around. Have they started the migration early?

Still a few on our feeders today but not as many as a few weeks ago.

The hummers are still at our feeders today. Last year they left on Oct 9th.

Still have our three, but the regular bird feeders are eerily quiet.

I realize it is far, far away, but could it have anything to do with Harvey?
On the other hand, I noticed that someone commented on Facebook that there were a lot of leaves already falling in the area, which was surprising considering the relatively mild summer and good rainfall. What in the world is going on?

I had the same thought. Or maybe the eclipse? I know, I know. Crazy talk. But I noticed the little feathered bird families left the feeders earlier than usual, too. Usually they hang around feeding the babies for quite awhile. Not this year. Oh crap - I hope this doesn't portend a horrendous winter!

I'm thinking we lost a month sometime since January. We definitely have migrant hummers coming through. One buzzed the red bandana on my head yesterday. The ones that have been here nesting long ago figured out that's not a flower!

And my post oaks have been dropping leaves for 3 weeks now...The dogwoods in my woods are reddish purple...Seems a little early for that.

Saw one yesterday scouting out for some good eats, but there's not any here now.
