That bar on the icemaker in my refrigerator refuses to flip all the way down so that it will make ice. I don't want to force it. Anyone got any ideas. It's too damn hot out there.

My flow chart for a problem like this is fairly straight forward.

    1. Check for obstruction - it usually has something stuck in there like a bit of ice keeping the bar from moving.
    2. Check to make sure the bar hasn't slipped out of a socket on one side
    3. Jiggle and wiggle if no obstruction is found, this is often accompanied by obscenities so you may want children out of the room before working this step.
    3. call repairman who will come in, roll his/her eyes, flip some simple switch and charge you 50 bucks.

Well, I tried with a hair dryer, but didn't care for the green sparks coming out of the hot end of it. I unplugged and replugged the fridge. Then, a day later, lo and behold, the bar was down all on it's own, and we have ice again! Yeah! Only 96 degrees today, so glad for some ice.
